B. Cenko, W. Li, and A. V. Filippenko report the LOSS discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered KAIT images: SN 2011 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Offset 2011gd Aug. 28.16 16 34 25.67 +21 32 28.4 18.7 2".9 E, 0".9 N This variable was designated PSN J16342567+2132284 when it was posted on the Central Bureau's TOCP webpage and is here designated SN 2011gd based on the spectroscopic report below. Additional KAIT magnitudes for 2011gd: a co- added image from July 2011, [20.1; Sept. 3.15 UT, 17.5. J. M. Silverman, S. B. Cenko and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of a CCD spectrum (range 340-1000 nm), obtained on Sept. 26 UT with the 10-m Keck I telescope (+ LRIS), shows that PSN J16342567+2132284 = SN 2011gd is a significantly reddened, but otherwise normal, type-Ib supernova. The host-galaxy recession velocity, as determined from narrow emission lines, is about 2800 km/s.
