Graham and W. Li report the LOTOSS discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered KAIT images on May 19.4 (mag about 17.2) and 20.4 UT (mag about 16.9). SN 2003ei is located at R.A. = 16h28m40s.30, Decl. = +12 46'05".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 4".6 west and 9".5 north of the nucleus of the northern component of UGC 10402, an interacting galaxy pair. A KAIT image taken on Mar. 31.5 showed nothing at this position (limiting mag about 19.5). NOTE: These 'Central Bureau Electronic Telegrams' are intended to be preliminary announcements of items that later appear in the formal IAU Circulars. Citations should normally be made to IAUCs rather than to CBETs. (C) Copyright 2003 CBAT 2003 May 20 (CBET 17) Daniel W. E. Green
