Singer, B. Swift, and W. Li report the LOTOSS discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered KAIT images taken on Sept. 14.5 (mag 16.7) and 15.5 UT (mag 16.8). SN 2003hz is located at R.A. = 5h48m07s.86, Decl. = +46o15'22".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 2".6 west and 1".6 north of the nucleus of PGC 17866. A KAIT image taken on Mar. 11.2 showed nothing at this position (limiting mag about 19.5). NOTE: These 'Central Bureau Electronic Telegrams' are intended to be preliminary announcements of items that later appear in the formal IAU Circulars. Citations should normally be made to IAUCs rather than to CBETs. (C) Copyright 2003 CBAT 2003 September 15 (CBET 43) Daniel W. E. Green
