Armstrong reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 16.8) on unfiltered CCD images taken on Dec. 8.068 and 9.075 UT. The new object is located at R.A. = 8h04m12s.35, Decl. = +84o38'27".3 (equinox 2000.0), which is approximately 18" west and 1.7" south of the center of UGC 4078. Nothing was visible on Armstrong's images from Oct. 17 and Nov. 6 (limiting mag 19) or on Palomar Sky Survey red and blue plates.
