Rich, Hampden, ME, reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 15.6) on unfiltered CCD frames taken with a 0.31-m reflector on Mar. 27.08 and 27.99 UT. The new object is located at R.A = 11h52m48s.07, Decl. = +44o06'18".4 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 15" west and 56" south of the center of NGC 3938. Nothing is visible at this location on CCD frames taken by Rich on Feb. 2.18 and 27.16 (limiting mag about 18.6) or on Palomar Digital Sky Survey images from 1997 (limiting red mag 20.0) and 1990 (limiting blue mag 19.5).
