Hu, Graduate Institute of Astronomy, National Central University, Jung-Li, report discovery (in the course of the Taiwan Supernova Survey) of an apparent supernova (mag about 17.4) on unfiltered CCD images taken on May 16.526 UT with the 1-m Lulin Observatory telescope. The new object was also visible at mag 17.9 on an image taken on May 18.477. SN 2005cd is located at R.A. = 10h50m57s.60, Decl. = -2o08'48".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 12".9 west and 12".8 north of the center of IC 651. Nothing was visible at this location on an image taken on Apr. 4.609 (limiting magnitude about 18.6).
