Wheeler, University of Texas; and N. Yasuda, University of Tokyo, on behalf of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey II collaboration, report the discovery of 27 supernovae on multiple g, r, and i images taken with the SDSS 2.5-m telescope at Apache Point Observatory by the SDSS observing team. Spectroscopy was obtained with the Subaru telescope, the Hobby-Eberly Telescope, the William Herschel Telescope, and the 2.4-m MDM telescope, showing 23 of the supernovae to be of type Ia, one to be a probable type-Ia event (SN 2005hq), and two (2005hl and 2005hm) to be of type Ib. The discovery g magnitudes are tabulated below (except for SN 2005id, which is an r magnitude because it was not detected with the g filter). Spectroscopic redshifts are given in the column labelled z where available. Peak g magnitudes and dates (all 2005) are estimated from fits to the multi-band light curves. SN 2005hk in UGC 272, announced on IAUC 8625, was independently discovered with the SDSS telescope on Oct. 28, with the following magnitudes also available: u = 18.6, r = 19.0, i = 19.3, z = 19.6; 2005hk was not detected on SDSS images taken two days earlier.
