Wong, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of CCD spectra (range 330-1000 nm), obtained on Nov. 2 UT with the Shane 3-m telescope at Lick Observatory, shows that SN 2005hk (IAUC 8625, CBET 268) is a peculiar type-Ia supernova, similar to SN 1991T (Filippenko et al. 1992, Ap.J. 384, L15) at 1-2 weeks before maximum brightness. The continuum is essentially featureless in the range 600-1000 nm, and prominent Fe III absorption lines are visible in the range 420-520 nm.
