Monard reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 18.4 +/- 0.3) on unfiltered CCD images taken on Apr. 5.087 UT and 6.094 with a 0.30-m Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector at the Bronberg Observatory near Pretoria, South Africa. The new object is located at R.A. = 20h00m15s.75, Decl. = -38o34'18".3 (equinox 2000.0), which is 42" east and 24" north of the nucleus of ESO 339-18. Nothing is visible at this location on Monard's image from 2005 Sept. 21.25 (limiting red mag 19.0) or on the Digitized Sky Survey (limiting red mag 20.5).
