Immler, Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA, and Universities Space Research Association; and P. J. Brown, Pennsylvania State University, on behalf of the Swift-satellite team, report on the detection of x-ray emission from the type-II supernova 2006bp with the Swift X-Ray Telescope (XRT) obtained between Apr. 10.54 and 14.33 UT. An x-ray source is detected in the merged 17700-s XRT data at a 4.1-sigma level at R.A. = 11h53m55s.68, Decl. = +52o21'06".9 (equinox 2000), consistent with the reported optical and ultraviolet positions (CBET 470; IAUC 8700; http://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=793). The XRT net count rate of (1.3 +/- 0.3) x 10**-3 counts/s corresponds to a 0.2- to 10-keV x-ray flux of (6.8 +/- 1.6) x 10**-14 ergs/cm/cm/s and a luminosity of (1.8 +/- 0.4) x 10**39 ergs/s for an adopted thermal plasma spectrum with a temperature of kT = 10 keV, a Galactic foreground column density of 1.58 x 10**20 cm**-2 (Dickey and Lockman 1990, ARAA 28, 215), and a distance of 14.9 Mpc. Further Swift observations are scheduled, and observations in other wavelength regimes are encouraged.
