Baek and W. Li report the LOSS discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 18.9) on unfiltered KAIT images taken on June 5.46, 25.46, and 26.43 UT. SN 2006dj is located at R.A. = 22h59m22s.89, Decl. = +53o44'09".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 0".5 east and 15".0 south of the center of UGC 12287. A KAIT image taken on 2000 Oct. 7.24 showed nothing at this position (limiting mag 20.0).
