Stanishev, Physics Department, Stockholm University, report that a rather noisy spectrum of SN 2006ke (cf. CBET 682, 684), obtained on Oct. 21.19 UT with the Nordic Optical Telescope (+ ALFOSC; range 340-900 nm) by E. Leitet and A. Blomkvist (Uppsala University), shows it to most likely be a reddened subluminous type-Ia supernova around maximum light. The spectrum is similar to that of SN 2003Y (a comparison by eye with a plot at http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/oir/Research/supernova/spectra/ sn2003y-20030131.flm.gif. Adopting recession velocity of the host galaxy, 5151 km/s (de Vaucouleurs et al., "Third Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies"; via NED), the blue-shift of the Si II 635.5-nm line is about 10400 km/s.
