Sollerman, Department of Astronomy, Stockholm University; J. Fynbo, Dark Cosmology Center, Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen University; V. Stanishev, Stockholm University; and S. Blondin, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, report on a spectrogram (10-min exposure; range 340-900 nm) of 2006iv (cf. CBET 662, IAUC 8759), obtained on Oct. 22.27 UT with the 2.56-m Nordic Optical Telescope (+ ALFOSC) by E. Leitet and A. Blomkvist of Uppsala University. The spectrum shows it to be a type-IIb supernova after maximum light, being very similar to that of SN 1997dd (Matheson et al. 2001, A.J. 121, 1648). There are conspicuous absorption lines at 577 nm, likely associated with He I blueshifted at approximately 7000 km/s. The strong absorption at 635 nm could be due to H-alpha at a blueshift of about 12000 km/s (adopting the recession velocity of the host galaxy, 2385 km/s, from Theureau et al. 1998, A.Ap. Suppl. 130, 333, via NED). NOTE: These 'Central Bureau Electronic Telegrams' are sometimes superseded by text appearing later in the printed IAU Circulars.
