Australia; and M. Schwartz, Patagonia, AZ, report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 15.8) on unfiltered CCD frames taken in the course of the Tenagra Observatory Supernova Search with the 0.35-m Tenagra telescope in Oslo on Dec. 28.91 UT, with a confirming image (same brightness) obtained by E. Konstantinos on Dec. 30.88 with a 0.30-m telescope. SN 2006te is located at R.A. = 8h11m42s.99, Decl. = +41o33'16".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 5".5 west and 1".7 south of the center of the apparent host galaxy (which itself has position end figures 43s.48, 18".5). Nothing was visible at this position on an image taken by Trondal on 2006 Jan. 28.97 (limiting mag about 18.0) or on a Digitized Sky Survey image from 1989 Nov. 30 (limiting red mag 21.0).
