Monard, Pretoria, South Africa, reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 17.8 +/- 0.3) on unfiltered CCD images taken on Feb. 19.104 and 20.118 UT with a 0.35-m telescope at his Bronberg Observatory. The new object is located at R.A. = 16h51m29s.13, Decl. = -3o05'33".6 (equinox 2000.0), which is 47" west and 15" north of the nucleus of MCG -01-43-2. Nothing is visible at this location on the Digitized Sky Survey (limiting red mag 20.5) or on images taken by Monard on 2006 July 21.27 (limiting red mag 18.0) and earlier (limiting red mag 18.5).
