IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2007ae IN UGC 10704 Markku Nissinen and Veli-Pekka Hentunen, Varkaus, Finland report the discovery of an apparent supernova on exposures taken with a Meade LX200 telescope (+ SBIG ST8 XME camera + Bessel R filter) on Feb. 19.892 (at mag 17.5) and 20.709 UT (mag 17.4). The new object is located at R.A. = 17h01m51s.95 +/- 0s.02, Decl. = +79o01'54".6 +/- 0".3 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 8" east and 21" south of the center of UGC 10704. Nothing is visible at this location on their image from Jan. 17 (limiting mag 20.4) or on a Palomar Sky Survey F plate from 1996 July 13 (limiting red mag 20.8). Following posting on the Central Bureau's unconfirmed-objects webpage, H. Naito and S. Narusawa (Nishi-Harima Astronomical Observatory) report their confirmation of 2007ae on an image obtained on Feb. 21.561 with the 2.0-m NAYUTA telescope (+ MINT + R-band filter), measuring the new object at magnitude R = 17.6 +/- 0.4.
