Puckett report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 15.1) on a CCD image (limiting mag 18.7) taken with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal, AZ, on Apr. 18.32 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search; 2007bj was confirmed at mag 15.2 by T. Orff and T. Puckett (Ellijay, GA, 0.60-m reflector) on Apr. 19.19. The new object is located at R.A. = 16h22m10s.59, Decl. = -1o30'51".4 (equinox 2000.0), which is 3".9 east and 2".3 north of the center of NGC 6172. Nothing is visible at this location on images taken by Puckett on Mar. 14 (limiting mag 19.0).
