Martin, Perth Observatory, reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag approximately 17.0) on red CCD images taken on Apr. 18.860 and 22.796 UT with the Perth/Lowell Automated Telescope in the course of the Perth Automated Supernova Search. The new object is located at R.A. = 22h55m52s.81 +/- 0".1, Decl. = -63o41'31".6 +/- 0".1 (equinox 2000), which is about 27" west and 9" north of the center of the galaxy NGC 7408. Nothing is visiable in this location on an archival image of NGC 7408 taken on 2006 Oct. 24 (limiting mag 18.5).
