Turatto, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica; A. Pastorello, D. Young, and S. J. Smartt, Queen's University, Belfast; S. Valenti, European Southern Observatory, Garching; and G. Andreuzzi, Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG), report that inspection of a spectrum of SN 2007bg, obtained on Apr. 21.04 UT with the 3.5-m TNG (+ DOLORES), confirms the resemblance to type-Ic supernovae/hypernovae (as reported on CBET 927). The spectrum is dominated by a broad and strong feature centered at about 652.4 nm. If it is identified with H-alpha, possibly blended with Si II, SN 2007bg might be classified as an energetic type-II supernova, similar to SN 2003bg (Hamuy et al. 2003, IAUC 8088). Thus, the position of the minimum of H-alpha would indicate an expansion velocity of about 18000 km/s. Also, He I lines, at a slightly lower velocity (14000 km/s), are possibly detected.
