Electronic Telegram No. 1119 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. Blondin, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA), on behalf of the CfA Supernova Group, reports that a spectrogram (range 350-740 nm) of 2007od (cf. CBET 1116), obtained by M. Calkins on Nov. 4.11 UT with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST), shows it to be a type-II supernova around 2 weeks past explosion. The spectrum consists of a blue continuum and P-Cyg lines of the Balmer series, consistent with the plateau phase of a normal type-II supernova. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2007od is most similar to the type-II supernova 1999em at 10 days past explosion. Adopting a recession velocity of 1739 km/s for the host galaxy (from de Vaucouleurs et al. 1991, Third Ref. Cat. of Bright Galaxies), the maximum absorption in the H_beta line (rest 486.1 nm) is blueshifted by roughly 8600 km/s.
