Electronic Telegram No. 1925 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2009im IN NGC 1355 S. Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, reports the discovery by Koichi Itagaki (Teppo-cho, Yamagata, Japan) of an apparent supernova (mag 15.6) on ten or more unfiltered 15-s CCD frames taken on Aug. 24.73 UT using a 0.60-m f/5.7 reflector (limiting magnitude 19.0), reporting the position of 2009im as R.A. = 3h33m22s.07, Decl. = -4d59'56".4 (equinox 2000.0), which is 21" west and 1".6 south of the center of NGC 1355. Nothing is visible at this position on Itagaki's frame taken on 2006 Oct. 27 (limiting mag 19.0) or on the Digitized Sky Survey (DSS). Nakano adds that T. Yusa (Osaki, Miyagi-ken, Japan) has confirmed the new object on three 60-s unfiltered CCD frames (limiting magnitude 17.7) taken remotely around Aug. 25.65 UT using a 0.25-m f/6 Ritchey-Chretien reflector at Moorook, Australia, measuring mag 15.1 and position end figures 22s.10, 57".3, and noting that nothing is visible at this position on DSS images taken on 1982 Sept. 16 (red) and 1987 Nov. 15.
