Puckett report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.2) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 19.3) taken with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal, AZ, U.S.A., on Oct. 16.50 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object, which was confirmed at mag 17.2 on images (limiting mag 19.3) taken by T. Orff on Oct. 17.50 with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal, is located at R.A. = 9h40m57s.83, Decl. = +47o37m04s.0 (equinox 2000.0), which is 3".2 west and 9".9 south of the center of UGC 5157.
