Monard, Pretoria, South Africa, reports his discovery of an apparent supernova at magnitude 17.3 (+/- 0.2) on an unfiltered CCD image taken on Dec. 7.902 at his Bronberg Observatory, and confirmed on Dec. 9.746 at mag 16.6, located at R.A. = 6h21m44s.86, Decl. = -59o44'26" (equinox 2000.0), which is 46" east and 4" south of the galaxy core of ESO 121-G26. Nothing is visible at this position on Digitized Sky Survey images (limiting red mag 20.5) or on Monard's image from 2009 Oct. 21.054 (limiting mag 18.8) or on earlier images taken by himself. The type-II supernova 2008M also appeared in this galaxy (cf. CBETs 1214, 1227).
