Electronic Telegram No. 2301 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION CBAT Director: Daniel W. E. A. G. Monard, Pretoria, South Africa, reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.2) on several unfiltered CCD images taken on June 1.787 UT at his Bronberg Observatory. The new object, which was confirmed at mag 17.1 by Monard on June 2.756, is located at R.A. = 13h57m28s.11, Decl. = +6d05'48".5, which is 23" west and 2" south of the galaxy core of NGC 5374. Nothing is seen at this position on Monard's previous image of this galaxy taken on Apr. 15.842 (limiting mag 18.8) or on the Digitized Sky Survey (limiting red mag 20.5). After posting on the Central Bureau's unconfirmed-objects webpage, A. Narla, S. B. Cenko, W. Li, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, report the independent LOSS discovery of 2010do on unfiltered KAIT images (cf. CBET 2285): SN 2010 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Offset 2010do June 2.25 13 57 28.06 + 6 05 48.3 17.6 24".4 W Nothing was visible at this position on a KAIT image from May 8.34 (limiting mag 19.3). The type-II supernova 2003bl also appeared in NGC 5374 (cf. IAUC 8086).
