Electronic Telegram No. 2393 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION CBAT Director: Daniel W. E. Green; Room 209; Dept. of Earth and Planetary Sciences; Harvard University; 20 Oxford St.; Cambridge, MA 02138; U.S.A. e-mail: cbat@iau.org; cbatiau@eps.harvard.edu URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2010gk IN NGC 5433 J. M. Silverman, C. V. Griffith, M. T. Kandrashoff, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of a low signal-to-noise ratio CCD spectrum (range 340-1080 nm), obtained on July 19 UT with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast) at Lick Observatory, shows that SN 2010gk (CBET 2382) is likely of type-Ic just after maximum brightness. The supernova shows evidence of being fairly reddened; it has narrow Na I D absorption from the host galaxy at an equivalent width of about 0.3 nm.
