Cox, J. Newton, and T. Puckett report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 16.7) on an unfiltered CCD image (limiting mag 19.1) taken with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal, AZ, U.S.A., on Dec. 29.16 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object, which was confirmed at mag 16.7 on Dec. 30.04 by S. Walters, Albrightsville, PA, U.S.A., with a 0.40-m reflector (+ Apogee U16m CCD camera), is located at R.A. = 2h54m03s.50, Decl. = +02o57'43".4 (equinox 2000.0), which is 13".2 east of the center of NGC 1137. Nothing is visible at this position on images taken by Puckett on Nov. 19 (limiting mag 19.0).
