Blanchard, J. Kodros, S. B. Cenko, W. Li, and A. V. Filippenko report the LOSS/KAIT discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered KAIT images: SN 2011 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Offset 2011U Jan. 28.22 4 13 33.94 +27 32 36.7 17.6 5".2 E, 6".7 N Additional unfiltered CCD magnitudes for 2011U: Jan. 8.27 UT, [19.0 (KAIT); 29.14, 16.6 (R. A. Koff, Bennett, CO, U.S.A.; position end figures 33s.82, 36".0, from 23 co-added images); 29.21, 17.5. This object was designated PSN J04133394+2732367 on the Central Bureau's TOCP webpage. D. Milisavljevic, J. Parrent, and R. Fesen, Dartmouth College, report on low-dispersion spectra (range 430-780 nm) taken on Feb. 2 and 3 UT with the 2.4-m Hiltner telescope (+ CCDS) at MDM Observatory. PSN J04133394+2732367 = SN 2011U is a type-Ia supernova. Comparison with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" tool (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ. 666, 1024) provides a reasonable match to type-Ia normal supernova events at a few days before maximum light. The spectra indicate significant reddening, and host-galaxy H-alpha emission indicates a recessional velocity of 3800 km/s.
