Electronic Telegram No. 5075 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams Mailing address: Hoffman Lab 209; Harvard University; 20 Oxford St.; Cambridge, MA 02138; U.S.A. e-mail: cbatiau@eps.harvard.edu (alternate cbat@iau.org) URL http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/index.html Prepared using the Tamkin Foundation Computer Network (554099) 2012 KU_50 C. O. Chandler and C. A. Trujillo, Northern Arizona University; and W. M. Grundy and J. K. Kueny, Lowell Observatory, report that fifteen archival 40-s VR-band images captured by observers L. Allen, D. Herrera, and D. James on 2014 Apr. 23-25 as part of the DECam NEO Survey with the National Science Foundation/NOIRLab Dark Energy Camera on the Blanco 4-m telescope at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, reveal that the transneptunian minor planet (554099) is a binary system. The primary and secondary were separately resolved in all images and were measured to have a mean separation of 1".37, implying a separation of at least 30000 km and thus a semimajor axis of their mutual orbit of at least 15000 km. Relative positions on the sky in R.A. and Decl. were measured to be (+1".36, -0".14), (+1".35, -0".13), and (+1".37, -0".17) for 2014 Apr. 23, 24, and 25, respectively.
