Electronic Telegram No. 5577 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams Mailing address: Hoffman Lab 209; Harvard University; 20 Oxford St.; Cambridge, MA 02138; U.S.A. e-mail: cbatiau@eps.harvard.edu (alternate cbat@iau.org) URL http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/index.html Prepared using the Tamkin Foundation Computer Network V572 VELORUM R. Kaufman, Bright, Victoria, Australia, reports that a low-resolution spectrogram of V572 Vel was obtained on June 30.440 UT that shows emissions at H-alpha, H-beta, and H-gamma, as well as Fe II lines -- this after three nights of a flat spectrum with absorption at hydrogen positions. The spectrum looks typical of an Fe II-type classical nova. Additional visual magnitude estimates for V572 Vel (cf. CBET 5574): June 25.949 UT, 5.1 (L. A. L. da Silva, Imbe, Brazil); 26.89, 4.9 (J. G. de S. Aguiar, Campinas, Brazil); 26.896, 5.1 (S. J. O'Meara, Mauna, Botswana); 26.924, 4.9 (W. Souza, Sao Paulo, Brazil); 27.390, 5.2 (R. H. McNaught, Coonabarabran, NSW, Australia); 27.896, 5.0 (O'Meara; naked eye); 28.446, 4.9 (McNaught; looks orange; some thin cloud); 28.882, 5.2 (O'Meara); 28.92, 5.7 (Aguiar); 28.896, 5.6 (Souza, Brazopolis, Brazil); 29.427, 5.8 (McNaught); 29.885, 5.5 (O'Meara); 29.93, 5.8 (Aguiar); July 1.452, 5.6 (McNaught); 1.903, 5.5 (O'Meara); 1.91, 6.0 (Aguiar); 2.885, 6.0 (O'Meara).
