     A telegram from Moscou communicates that Mrs.
Pelageja Shajn has found a new comet:

  1949        U.T.     R.A. (1949.0) Decl.    Mag.
  Sept. 18   21h46m1    0  8.6    - 1 27      12
        19   21 38.4    0  8.1    - 1 35

     Object diffuse with condensation, tail < 1 degree.

     Zverev, Moscou, further telegraphs that Martynoff
(Kazan?) confirms the discovery and has observed the comet
as follows:

  Sept. 20   20h 0m8   0  7 35.3  - 1 41 42    13

     Object diffuse with condensation; nothing reported
about tail.


CORRECTION
     Circular 1230.  Under Comet Johnson (1949d) 2nd
line: for Circ. 1022 read Circ. 1222.
