SUPERNOVA IN NGC 3389
Dr. D. Ya. Martynov, Sternberg Astronomical Institute, communicates
a cable from Dr. E. K. Haradze, Abastumani Astrophysical
Observatory, reporting the discovery by A. D. Chuadze of a supernova,
as follows:
1967 UT R.A. (1950) Decl. Mpg
Feb. 28 10 45.7 +12 48 13
BD +26 870
Prof. Otto Volk, Wurzburg Astronomical Institute, has verified
that the star referred to in our telegram of February 3 and on IAUC
1996 was indeed BD +26 870 (ADS 4208). On plates taken at Wurzburg
on January 29 and 31 the star appeared about magnitude 3.5. On
February 5 and subsequently it appeared normal.
