Circular No. 2004 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION Postal Address: Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. Cable Address: SATELLITES, NEWYORK Western Union: RAPID SATELLITE CAMBMASS SUPERNOVA IN NGC 3389 Prof. G. de Vaucouleurs, University of Texas, sends the following photoelectric observations made by himself and J. E. Solheim with two-channel pulse counting photometer on 36-inch reflector of McDonald Observatory. Field aperture 32"; background corrections applied. Main comparison star (A) 260" East of NGC 3389 used as local standard. Several comparison stars in the range 12 < B < 16.5 were also measured to assist reduction of photographic observations. Colors corrected by -0.1 mag. for red-shift and galactic absorption are consistent with Arp's data for Type II SN 1959 in NGC 7331 (Ap. J., 133, 883, 1961) about 2 weeks past maximum. 1967 UT V B - V U - B Mar. 7.3 13.28 +0.27 -0.19 10.2 13.48 +0.35 -0.10 12.4 13.60 +0.37 -0.05 13.3 13.62 +0.44 -0.03 15.3 13.79 +0.49 +0.11 16.3 13.74 +0.60 +0.03 17.3 13.85 +0.65 +0.04 20.4 14.10 +0.79 +0.30 Star A 11.36 +0.67 +0.11 COMET WILD (1967c) The following precise positions have been reported: 1967 UT R.A.
