Cable Address: SATELLITES, NEWYORK

NOVA SCUTI 1970
Mr. S. W. Milbourn, British Astronomical Association, cables
that Mr. G. E. D. Alcock has observed a nova in the following
position:

     1970 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. mvis
     July 31.910 18 43.1 -8 36 6.9

SUPERNOVA IN MESSIER 101
Dr. L. Detre, Director of the Konkoly Observatory, Budapest,
cables that Lovas observed a supernova, magnitude 11, on a Schmidt
plate of July 30 in the "southernmost association of Messier 101".

omicron CETI
Dr. A. D. Thackeray, Director of the Radcliffe Observatory,
Pretoria, cables that a Cassegrain spectrum taken by R. Wood on
1970 July 13.14 shows faint aluminum oxide emission.

PERIODIC COMET AREND-RIGAUX (1970j)
Dr. Elizabeth Roemer writes that she has reobserved this comet
as follows, using the 229-cm reflector of the Steward Observatory on
Kitt Peak:

     1970 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. Mag.
     July 27.37975 00 24.86 -14 21.3 20.8

The image appears stellar. The photographic observations were
obtained with the assistance of George Reskin.

PERIOD OF THE CRAB PULSAR
     C. Papaliolios and N. P. Carleton, Smithsonian Astrophysical
Observatory and Harvard University; and P. Horowitz, Harvard University
report: "The second discontinuous change in the period of the
crab pulsar as reported by Dr. R. N. Manchester (IAUC 2265) has
not been observed in the course of our optical timing experiments.
We have only one measurement (1970 April 26) past the supposed jump
on 1970 April 21, but a jump an order of magnitude smaller would
have been clearly visible".

PERIODIC COMET DU TOIT-NEUJMIN-DELPORTE (1970i)
Dr. Elizabeth Roemer sends the following semi-accurate position
scaled from a plate obtained with the 229-cm reflector of the Steward
Observatory located on Kitt Peak:

     1970 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. Mag.
     July 27.20567 15 27 13 -14 29.4 19.8

The image is fairly well condensed. The observation was obtained
with the assistance of George Reskin.

COMET ABE (1970g)
The following precise positions have been reported:

     1970 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. Mag. Observer
     July 15.73889 2 19 53.39 +28 28 51.9 7 Tomita
          20.79328 2 19 40.0 +31 5 4. Seki
          21.76471 2 19 31.15 +31 37 48.0 "
          21.76957 2 19 31.05 +31 37 58.0 "

K. Tomita (Tokyo Astronomical Observatory). Correction to IAUC
     2266. Communicated by M. Huruhata.
T. Seki (Kochi Observatory).
