PERIODIC COMET WOLF-HARRINGTON (1977j)
     T. Seki, Kochi Observatory, Geisei Station, reports the
independent recovery of this comet on 40-min exposures with the 40-cm
reflector. The comet is diffuse with central condensation.

HM SAGITTAE
     A. A. Boyarchuk, Crimean Astrophysical Observatory, cables
that observations by Belyakina, Noskova and Saveleva show that HM
Sge increased rapidly in brightness from V = 11.49 on July 14 to
V = 11.04 on July 20. The corresponding changes in color were from
B-V = +0.72, U-B = -0.62 to B-V = +0.33, U-B = -0.43.
     C. W. McCracken, Goddard Space Flight Center, reports that an
image-tube spectrogram (range 4650-7350 A, dispersion 82 A/mm) was
obtained on July 23.20 UT by L. W. Brown, R. W. Hobbs and himself
with the 91-cm reflector. W. A. Feibelman has identified about 40
emission lines that show that the spectrum is typically that of a
planetary nebula. Lines of H-alpha, H-beta, He I, He II, Si II, [N II],
[O I], [O II], [O III], [S III], [A III] and [A IV] are superposed
on a stellar continuum. Weak lines of [Fe III], [Fe VI], [Cl III]
and [P II] are present, in addition to several unidentified lines
observed in NGC 7027 and other high-excitation planetaries.
NOVALIKE X-RAY SOURCE IN NORMA
     R. Doxsey, G. Clark and F. Li, Massachusetts Institute of Technology,
have refined the position of this object (cf. IAUC 3090) to
R.A. = 16h08m51s.9, Decl. = -52o18'01" (equinox 1950.0), with a
90-percent-confidence error radius of 30". The measurement was made by SAS 3
on July 24 when the flux in the energy range 1-10 keV was again
approximately 4 x 10**-8 erg cm**-2 s**-1 (~ 1.1 times the Crab).
COMET HARLAN (1976g)
Corrigendum: IAUC 3011. On 1976 June 5.24493 and 5.25552 UT,
R.A. (1950) should read 13h02m.52, not 13h02m.56.
1977 August 3 (3094) Brian G. Marsden
