NOVA OPHIUCHI 1977
P. Murdin, Anglo-Australian Observatory, reports that
identification of the optical nova with the nearby x-ray transient (cf.
IAUC 3110) is strengthened by the appearance, after full data
reductions, of weak 4686 A He II emission in spectrograms obtained
with the 380-cm telescope by Cannon, Smith and Boksenberg on Sept.
16 and (with Edmunds and Chun) on Sept. 22. The color of the otherwise
featureless spectrum (3000-7000 A) is B-V = +0.7 +/- 0.1.
