NOVA SAGITTARII 1978
The following precise position has been obtained by H. Kosai
with the 105-cm Schmidt telescope at the Tokyo Astronomical
Observatory's Kiso Station:

     1978 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. mpg
     Apr. 14.79633 18 30 14.75 -20 08 07.7 10

The following visual magnitude estimates have been made by J.
Morgan, Prescott, Arizona: Apr. 15.49 UT, 9.3; 17.50, 9.6; 18.47,
9.3; 19.49, 9.6. The estimates are somewhat uncertain since no
sequence is available.

OBSERVATIONS WITH THE INTERNATIONAL ULTRAVIOLET EXPLORER
From Apr. 28 to May 4 the IUE satellite (cf. IAUC 3173) will
continuously observe optical counterparts of x-ray sources In an
international collaboration among the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration, the European Space Agency and the Science
Research Council. Ground-based observatories are invited to perform
simultaneous observations. Information on the detailed observing
program can be obtained from A. J. Willis, Villafranca del Castillo
Satellite Tracking Station, P.O. Box 54065, Madrid, Spain (telephone
01-4019661; telex 42555 VILSPA E); or from R. J. Davis, before
Apr. 27 at Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, 60 Garden
Street, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. (telephone 617-495-7335; telex
921428 SATELLITE CAM), and subsequently at IUE Satellite Operations
Center, Code 685, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD
20771, U.S.A. (telephone 301-982-2664; telex 89675 NASCOM GBLT).

MXB1730-335
     W. Lewin, H. Marshall and L. Cominsky, Massachusetts Institute
of Technology, report that the SAS-3 Observatory was pointed at the
Rapid Burster MXB1730-335 for an approximately 7-hr period from Apr.
15.95 to 16.23 UT. No bursts were observed. As suspected earlier
(IAUC 3208), the burst activity has stopped, after having lasted
only for approximately three weeks (cf. IAUC 3204).
