GK PERSEI
Independently of the announcement (IAUC 3238) of the x-ray
source A0327+43 and its possible association with GK Per, J. Bortle,
Brooks Observatory, noted the star brighter than normal on July
1.31 UT at visual magnitude 12.5. J. Mattei, AAVSO, communicates
further magnitude estimates: July 4.35, 12.5 (P. Goodwin, Shreveport,
LA); 4.42, 12.7 (J. Morgan, Prescott, AZ). She adds that at
its last outburst, early in 1975, the star reached magnitude ~ 10.5.
PERIODIC COMET SHAJN-SCHALDACH (1978i)
Faint, but definitely nonstellar images of this comet have
been recorded by C.-Y. Shao and G. Schwartz with the Harvard
Observatory's 155-cm reflector, as shown below. The positions are in
very close agreement with the prediction on IAUC 3217.
1978 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. m2
July 2.30263 22 51.3 - 3 38 20-20.5

PERIODIC COMET ASHBROOK-JACKSON (1977g)
Bortle provides the following total visual magnitude estimate
(32-cm reflector): July 1.29 UT, 12.9. Ephemeris on IAUC 3161.

Corrigendum. On IAUC 3233, fifth line from end, for full
amplitude of 2 percent read full amplitude of 4 percent.
