COMET BRADFIELD (1979c)
D. Herald, Kambah, near Canberra, reports the following precise
positions (the latter from an exposure by M. Ashley):
1979 UT R. A. (1950) Decl.
June 30.35972 8 39 14.45 + 5 29 35.9
July 3.35069 8 39 30.38 + 8 43 50.6
The following parabolic elements satisfy observations on four
nights June 25 to July 3 with residuals up to 7":
T = 1979 July 23.257 ET Peri. = 47.627
Node = 163.507 1950.0
q = 0.41320 AU Incl. = 136.260
The following ephemeris is very uncertain and could be in error by
several degrees. It is provided here, however, for those who may
wish to plan observations when the comet moves away from the sun in
August. It is not impossible that the comet will be considerably
fainter than predicted.
