SUPERNOVA IN NGC 6946
     B. Marano, P. Vettolani and V. Zitelli, Institute of Radio
Astronomy, Bologna and Astronomical Observatory of the University
of Bologna, telex: "On Nov. 14 we obtained spectra of the supernova
in NGC 6946 with the 1.52-m telescope of the University of Bologna.
These spectra show a broad emission feature centered at the H-alpha-band;
the limits correspond to -5800 km/s and +3000 km/s, the latter
being poorly defined. The H-beta-band is also probably present
with a low-constrast structure. The observed features indicate a
type-II supernova."

     A. Dapergolas, Astronomical Observatory, University of Bologna;
and G. Vettolani, Institute of Radio Astronomy, Bologna, communicate:
"Photoelectric observations of the supernova in NGC 6946 made
with the 0.60-m reflector of the Loiano Observatory yield the
following magnitude values: Nov. 7.8 UT, V = 11.38, B-V = +0.49, U-B =
-0.62; 11.85, 11.55, +0.50, -0.47; 14.77, 11.75, +0.59, -0.45;
16.83, 11.90, +0.56, -0.24.  The average flux decrease is 0.058,
0.068 and 0.105 magnitude/day in the V, B and U bands, respectively,
indicating a lightcurve of a type-II supernova."

COMET CERNIS-PETRAUSKAS (1980k)
     M. Grossmann, Munster, West Germany, writes that the antitail
reported by E. Everhart (IAUC 3516) appears as a faint feature on
15-min Kodak IIa-O exposures by him with the Hoher List 0.3-m f/5
astrograph. Position angles (+/- 1o.5) and lengths were: Sept. 3.846
UT, 261o, 12'; 6.845, 263o, 9'; 7.825, 263o, 9'.  The antitail does
not appear on a 10-min exposure obtained on Sept. 2.885 UT.

     V. Straizys, Vilnius Astronomical Observatory, reports that
exposures taken by himself with the 0.35-m Maksutov telescope at
Moletai Observatory show a sunward narrow, straight tail of length
0o.2 in the following position angles (+/- 2o): Aug. 15.9 UT, 251o;
19.9, 254o. He notes that N. S. Chernykh, Crimean Astrophysical
Observatory, also found the antitail on exposures taken Sept. 4.8 at
p.a. 258o +/- 2o.
