COMET PANTHER (1980u)
The following observations have been reported:

     1980 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. m1 Observer
     Dec. 28.40625 18 48 14.47 +39 32 01.3 10 Seki
          28.766 18 48.4 +39 37 9 Hurst
          30.560 18 49.4 +40 07 9.4 Machholz

T. Seki (Geisel). Faint, narrow tail to the north. Communicated
by Y. Kozai and H. Kosai, Tokyo Astronomical Observatory.
G. M. Hurst (Wellingborough, England). Object diffuse with
condensation, coma diameter 3'.5 (0.26-m reflector).
D. Machholz (San Jose, CA). Coma 3' (0.25-m reflector).

SUPERNOVA IN NGC 6946
     D. Sramek, National Radio Astronomy Observatory; J. M. van der
Hulst, University of Minnesota; and K. W. Weiler, National Science
Foundation, communicate: "We report the radio detection with the
Very Large Array of the supernova in NGC 6946. Its flux density is
0.6 +/- 0.2 (rms) mJy at 4885 MHz. The radio position is R.A =
20h34m26s.68 +/- 0s.01, Decl. = +59o55'56".5 +/- 0".1 (equinox 1950.0). The
observation was made on Dec. 4, 37 days after the optical discovery.
An earlier observation on Nov. 4 (rms 0.1 mJy) gave no detection."

MK 1055
     W. Wisniewski, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of
Arizona, reports a detection of photometric variability of the
narrow-emission-line galaxy MK 1055 = I Zw 8. Magnitudes measured
with the 1.5-m telescope on Sept. 2 were: U = 15.44, B = 15.25, V =
14.66, R = 14.12, I = 13.78; and on Sept. 19 were: U = 15.64, B =
15.92, V = 15.25, R = 14.58, I = 14.04. Further observations confined
the object to be variable. It is suggested that MK 1055 is a
prototype of a new class of extragalactic variable objects.

PERIODIC COMET STEPHAN-OTERMA (1980g)
Total visual magnitude estimates: Nov. 28.05 UT, 9.0 (V. F. de
Assis Neto, Sao Francisco de Oliveira, Brazil, 0.31-m reflector);
Dec. 5.15, 8.4 (J. Bortle, Stormville, NY, 0.32-m reflector); Dec.
12.42, 8.6 (Machholz); 14.16, 8.4 (Bortle); 15.44, 8.4 (Machholz).
