PERIODIC COMET LONGMORE (1981a)
     Y. Kozai, Tokyo Astronomical Observatory; and T. Urata,
Nihondaira Observatory, telex that this comet has been recovered by T.
Seki, Geisei, as follows:

     1981 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. m1
     Jan. 2.79757 11 05 15.13 +36 04 06.8 18
           3.78333 11 05 18.72 +36 08 45.0 18
           3.80799 11 05 18.80 +36 08 50.2

The comet is diffuse, with condensation, nothing reported about a
tail. The indicated correction to the prediction on MPC 5652
(elements in Nakano Note No. 338) is Delta-T = +0.26 day.

COMET BRADFIELD (1980t)
     E. Ney, University of Minnesota, reports: "When near perihelion
comet 1980t showed the enhanced visual brightness due to forward
scattering previously seen in the case of comet 1976 VI.
Observations on Jan. 1, 2 and 3 indicate that comet 1980t is very
similar to comet 1973 XII at the same heliocentric and geocentric
distances, except that comet 1973 XII (post perihelion) was about one
magnitude brighter at all wavelengths. Magnitudes in a 26" diaphragm
on Jan. 3.67 UT: V = 5.1; R = 4.9; I = 4.6; 1.2 um, 3.8; 1.6
um, 3.3; 2.2 um, 2.6; 3.5 um, 0.0; 4.8 um, -1.6; 8.5 um, -3.7; 10.6
um, 4.4; 12 um, -4.4; 18 um, -5.2."

     Selected visual estimates: Jan. 5.71 UT, m1 = 4.0, tail 0o.3 in
p.a. 45o (M. Cavagna, Milan, 20 x 80 bin.); 5.95, m1 = 3.8, coma 1'.5,
tail 3o.5 in p.a 35o (J. Bortle, Stormville, NY, 10 x 50 bin.).

COMET PANTHER (1980u)
Positions by E. Bowell, Lowell Obs. Anderson Mesa Station:

     1980 UT R. A. (1950) Decl.
     Dec. 31.06597 18 49 35.87 +40 13 42.9
          31.07500 18 49 36.08 +40 13 52.4

     Selected visual estimates: 1980 Dec. 30.96 UT, m1 = 9.3, coma
3' (C. S. Morris, Harvard, MA, 0.25-m reflector); 1981 Jan. 5.98, m1
= 9.3, coma 2'.5 (S. O'Meara, Harvard Observatory, 0.2-m refractor).
