NOTICE TO SUBSCRIBERS
It is apparent from correspondence from subscribers that
there is often some confusion between our two services. These
postcards are properly referred to as Circulars. Some subscribers
receive in addition our telegrams (e.g, information by telex,
cablegram, mailgram, etc.); the notice on IAUC 3770 refers only to
telegram subscribers. All subscribers to the telegram service,
and many of the subscribers to the Circulars, are invoiced by us.
The invoices for the different services are sent separately and
are clearly marked: subscribers who make payments through
subscription agencies and university accounting offices should ensure
that these organizations understand the difference. At least the
first five figures of the account number on the invoice (or on the
address label) should be mentioned in correspondence, the full
postal address shown above should be used, and checks should be
made payable to the "Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams".
To add to the confusion, many of our subscribers also receive the
Minor Planet Circulars, which are published by the Minor Planet
Center at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, and the
independent publication International Comet Quarterly. Payments to
the Minor Planet Center and the Central Bureau for Astronomical
Telegrams may be combined in a single check (and made payable to
and addressed to either), but payments to the International Comet
Quarterly should be by separate check.
