PERIODIC COMET RUSSELL 3 (1983i)
The following precise positions have been obtained by J.
Gibson with the 1.2-m Schmidt telescope at Palomar. A 10-min
exposure on June 17 shows a weak tail ~ 2' long in p.a. 250.
1983 UT R.A. (1950.0) Decl. m2

20.46293 20 34 35.02 - 3 14 31.8
The following elliptical orbital elements satisfy the six
available observations within 1". A parabolic solution leaves
residuals of 0'.2. The revolution period is uncertain, but it is
possible that the comet made a close approach to Jupiter in 1965.
