PERIODIC COMET CROMMELIN (1983n)
Independent reports of the recovery of this comet have been
received from S. Wyckoff and P. A. Wehinger, Arizona State University,
and from L. Kohoutek, Hamburg Observatory, as shown below:

    1983 UT R.A. (1950.0) Decl. m2 Observer

L. Kohoutek (German-Spanish Astronomical Center, Calar Alto).
0.8-m Hamburg Schmidt. Object of stellar appearance very near
   plate limit. Positions semiaccurate.
S. Wyckoff and P. A. Wehinger (Kitt Peak National Observatory).
No. 1 0.9-m reflector and CCD camera. The above accurate position
is from a 3-min exposure with an R filter, one of several
images recorded in V and R during a 3-hr interval. The comet
is not obviously of other than stellar appearance. Photometric
   observations yield V = 19.66 +/- 0.06, V-R = +0.57 +/- 0.01.

The comet's position is in close agreement with the predicted
elements by B. G. Marsden on MPC 7454 (indicated correction Delta-T =
-0.04 day), but the comet is much brighter than anticipated on MPC
7846. In the following ephemeris the magnitude has been adjusted:
