SUPERNOVAE
     H. E. Bond, Space Telescope Science Institute; and R.
Ciardullo, Kitt Peak National Observatory, report their confirmation
of the supernova in UGC 4060 (IAUC 4521, 4523). Their observations
with the No. 1 Kitt Peak 0.9-m reflector on Jan. 3.3 UT
showed the supernova at V about 18.3. The object is being given the
designation SN 1987O.
     Bond and Ciardullo also confirm the supernova in Zw 0752+1430
(cf. IAUC 4523). On Jan. 2.4 V about 17.5, as shown by CCD
observations with the No. 1 Kitt Peak 0.9-m reflector. This object is
being designated SN 1987P.
     A. C. Beresford, Adelaide, South Australia, provides the
following visual magnitude estimates of SN 1987A in the LMC: 1987
Dec. 29.50 UT, 6.3; 30.48, 6.3; 31.46, 6.3; 1988 Jan. 1.52, 6.4;
3.47, 6.3; 4.48, 6.3.
     Visual magnitude estimates of SN 1987N in NGC 7606: 1987 Dec.
20.05 UT, 13.4 (J. Bryan, Georgetown, TX); 21.02, 14.1 (S. H.
Luas, Tinley Park, IL); 21.4, 14.0: (R. H. McNaught, Siding Spring
Observatory); 24.49, 13.8 (McNaught); 25.47, 13.8 (McNaught);
25.5, 13.8 (T. Cragg, Siding Spring Observatory).

COMET ICHIMURA (1987d1)
     Total visual magnitude estimates by R. H. McNaught,
Coonabarabran, N.S.W.: 1987 Dec. 14.53 UT, 8.1 (9 x 63 bin.); 16.50,
8.2 (20 x 120 bin.); 24.46, 8.7 (20 x 120 bin.).

NOTICE CONCERNING TELEGRAMS
     It is once again an 'open season' for making changes in the
list of subscribers to the Central Bureau's telegram service.
Subscribers who wish to make address changes, category changes,
etc., are requested to inform us of said changes by Feb. 29. We
regret that a charge of $50.00 must be made for address changes
and deletions (but not additions) outside these biannual seasons.
In view of the ever-increasing success and popularity of our
Computer Service, which allows users to access these Circulars as
soon as they are issued, subscribers may well want to reconsider
whether they need to receive the telegrams.
