X-RAY NOVA IN VULPECULA
     S. Okamura and T. Noguchi, Tokyo Astronomical Observatory, Kiso
Station, telex that they have found two possible candidates for this
object within the error box reported by the Ginga Team (IAUC 4588) by
examination of the Palomar Sky Survey charts and several plates taken
with the Kiso Schmidt telescope. Candidate A (R.A. = 20h01m01s.53 +/-
0s.04, Decl. = +25D08'57".8 +/- 0".7, equinox 1950.0) is a red
variable object (B-R = +4 from the Palomar charts) with B = 18.5 on
the Palomar chart, [19.5 in 1983 and 17.5 on 1988 Apr. 28. Candidate
B (R.A. = 20h00m42s.86 +/- 0s.04, Decl. +25d05'43".5 +/- 0".7, equinox
1950.0) is totally invisible on both Palomar charts and on Kiso plates
taken in 1978 and 1983, but it does appear at B = 17.5 on the 1988
Apr. 28 plate and also on a red plate taken on Apr. 30.

NOVA IN THE LARGE MAGELLANIC CLOUD
     P. M. Kilmartin, Mount John Observatory, communicates the
following photometric observations by A. C. Gilmore: Apr. 23.48 UT, V
= 13.51, U-B = -0.29, B-V = +0.02, V-R = +0.56; 25.43, 13.77, -0.38,
-0.12, +0.57. U-B is poorly determined, and conditions were marginal
on Apr. 25.

PERIODIC COMET SCHWASSMANN-WACHMANN 2 (1986h)
Total visual magnitudes: Mar. 12.29 UT, 13.9 (A.
Hale, Las Cruces, NM, 0.41-m reflector); 14.96, 12.8 (M. Amoretti,
Sanremo, Italy, 0.35-m reflector); 19.02, 12.7 (Amoretti); 20.28,
13.8 (Hale); 26.47, 13.7 (Hale); Apr. 9.40, 14.1 (D. Levy, Tucson,
AZ, Catalina 1.54-m reflector); 17.07, 13.7 (A. Boattini,
Piazzano, Italy, 0.40-m reflector); 19.29, 13.7 (Hale).

NOTICE CONCERNING TELEGRAMS
Somewhat earlier than usual, we are again offering an
'open season' for making changes in the list of subscribers to the
Central Bureau's telegram service. Subscribers who wish to make
