COMET HELIN-ROMAN-ALU (1989v)
     Eleanor F. Helin reports her discovery of a new comet on films taken
by herself, Brian Roman, Jeff Alu, and R. Bambery with the 0.46-m Schmidt
telescope at Palomar.  The object is diffuse with some condensation.
The following positions were measured by Roman:

8.2 (G. R. Chester, Rixeyville, VA, 0.37-m reflector; 10' fan-shaped
tail in p.a. 50 deg); 29.09, 8.2 (G. Kronk, Troy, IL, 20x80
binoculars); 30.78, 7.8 (A. Boattini, Consuma, Italy, 10x50

PERIODIC COMET BRORSEN-METCALF (1989o)
     Total visual magnitude estimates (cf. IAUC 4856):  Sept. 20.25
UT, 6.2 (M. Kidger, Tenerife, Canary Is., 12x50 binoculars); 25.45,
7.7 (G. Kronk, Troy, IL, 0.33-m reflector; low altitude, twilight);
25.50, 6.8: (A. Hale, Las Cruces, NM, 0.41-m reflector; low altitude,
twilight).


PERIODIC COMET SCHWASSMANN-WACHMANN 1
     H. Kosai, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, reports
the following total magnitude estimates by M. Tsumura, Oishi, Japan,
from 2415 films (0.31-m reflector and 0.16-m Wright Schmidt; +/- 0.5
mag):  Aug. 8.67 UT, 14.0; 28.70, 14.0; Sept. 3.76, 15.0; 9.71, 14.5;
11.77, 15.0.  The images are diffuse on each photograph.
