PERIODIC COMET SCHWASSMANN-WACHMANN 3 (1989d1)
     This comet has been independently recovered by J. Luu,
Massachusetts Institute of Technology; D. Jewitt and S. Ridgway,
Institute for Astronomy, University of Hawaii; and J. Gibson,
OAO Corporation and Jet Propulsion Laboratory.  The positions
indicate a correction of Delta(T) = -0.05 day to the orbital
elements on MPC 12122 (ephemeris on MPC 15266):

  of Hawaii reflector.  Mould R filter, 5".75 diaphragm.
  Comet has a centrally condensed core with a tail in p.a. 298 deg.
J. Gibson (Palomar).  1.5-m reflector + CCD + Gunn r filter.  On
  Dec. 9, slight coma, 0'.1-0'.2 tail in p.a. about 285 deg.

binoculars; 2.5-deg tail in p.a. 338 deg); 16.50, 3.6 (G. Kronk, Troy,
IL, 20x80 binoculars); 17.21, 3.7 (R. Haver, Tolfa, Italy, 15x80
binoculars; 2deg40' tail in p.a. 328 deg); 18.45, 4.0 (Bortle; 1-deg
tail in p.a. 323 deg).
