SUPERNOVA 1991U IN IC 4232
     J. Maza, University of Chile; and M. M. Phillips, Cerro Tololo
Interamerican Observatory, telex: "Roberto Antezana (University of
Chile) has discovered a supernova 3" west and 6" north of the nucleus
of the spiral galaxy IC 4232 (R.A. = 13h20m37s, Decl. = -25 51'.0,
equinox 1950.0). The supernova (mpg about 16) was found on a 20-min
IIa-O plate taken by M. Hamuy and L. Wells with the CTIO Curtis
Schmidt telescope on Apr. 18.20 UT, and was also recorded on a T-Max
film taken by Hamuy and Wells with the Curtis Schmidt on Apr. 19.23.
A CCD spectrum covering the wavelength range 360.0-680.0 nm obtained
on Apr. 20.2 by Phillips with the CTIO 4.0-m telescope shows that
this is a type-Ia supernova about 11 days past blue maximum. A
spectrum of the nucleus of IC 4232 yields a redshift of 0.032."
