SUPERNOVA 1991P IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY
M. M. Phillips and G. M. Williger, Cerro Tololo Interamerican
Observatory, report that a CCD spectrogram (range 360-680 nm) of SN
1991P (cf. IAUC 5235) was obtained on Apr. 20.3 UT with the CTIO
4.0-m telescope. Strong P-Cyg H-alpha emission and weaker H-beta
and Fe II multiplet-42 absorption are clearly observed, consistent
with a type-II supernova a few weeks past outburst. Narrow emission
lines of H-alpha and forbidden O III 500.7-nm are also present in
the spectrum. A redshift of 0.037 was measured for the nucleus of
the parent galaxy.
